'Bird-Down'

It would appear that, yesterday 3-2-2010, a UH60 'Blackhawk' helicopter belonging to the US Army, has crashed killing at least three persons onboard. The helicopter is reported to have been making it's way to the Colman Barracks. The crash-site is in woodland near the A67 motorway between Viernheim and Lorsche with is to the south of Frankfurt, Germany. The crash happened at 17.20 GMT.

Our sincere condolences to the families of these victims at this time. Rest in peace.

Extra help at Bottisham

Not much to report, this week other than I'm sad to hear of the death of Col. Lee Archer on weds of this week. Was lucky to have seen a brief 'glimpse' of him at Duxford some years ago. Chris Reynolds of the 78th FG Group on Facebook, tells me the P-47G 'Jug' still has no wheels fitted yet. However, Chris has offered to help Jason Webb, stickandrudder  member, down at Bottisham with the new museum dedicated to the 361st FG. Georgia-bound

Any 'stickandrudders' attending the Great Georgia Airshow or the Air-power over Marietta airshow, will have a local 'brew' or two from me. See you there if you can make it. Rolls Spitfire U/S 2010 ?

Hearing reports, that the Rolls-Royce 'PR' Marked Spitfire, has wing-spar 'issues' and sounds like alot of time and work will be needed to correct the problem. Concern for our members in the USA and CA.

Do hope stickandrudder members and anybody else who have been 'hit' by what appears to be extreme 'snow' conditions in Texas and mid USA states. Sounds pretty 'grim' and I hope the disruption goes soon, or the very least, calms down, so people get a chance to make plans. We thought we had it bad here over the last week in the UK, but this sounds like more like the 'real' thing compared to what we get. My thoughts with these people at this time.

Bad News F-111

Our own 'Flying Dutchman' Dennis, has informed me of the news that the RAAF F-111 will not be doing a tour of europe this year during the airshow season. So looks like Peter will staying 'south' next year, and the further worry is that 'Gunsmoke' from London on ASB will say 'I told you so !!' but then again, I think he's better than that considering that, if its not to be thats, that. At least RAF Waddington did try to bring us something special and they must be as down as we are to hear this
