Popped in to Duxford for a couple of hours today just to see what was happening.
The P47 is looking like a P47 but still a way to go.

Saturday the 14th was a beauty of a day for flying, and having a wife that 'forces' me to keep current instead of raking leaves is a true blessing. Flew over to Circleville to visit friends for coffee and get some sugar via donuts into my system. Gotta keep our strength up. Afterwards I took a short flight to visit my friend Wes at 'Aerodrome Wes-Mar' to check up on his Sopwith Pup project. He is making good time and will make it a full time endevour to finish and fly it by spring. As the pictur…

Had to miss the Hurricane bash at North Weald due to a 21st birthday in Bognor Regis last night. Made the most of it and went down Friday night which gave us some free time Saturday morning so popped over to Tangmere which has grown somewhat since I was last there 10 or 15 years ago. Here's a taste of the visit, including the record breaking Hunter, and I'll put more in the museum section.

Got up at o'dark thirty Saturday morning hoping to fly to the Champaign County Air Museum, Urbana, Ohio for our ASB fall debrief. Was'nt going to happen, viz was 10+ miles but flight service was calling for overcast at about 1000 ft. Looked lower to me, once I got to the airport it started raining, saw a guy on downwind ( in the dark!) who was no higher than 500'. Easy call to make so I just kept driving. 8 Folks showed, increasing our attendance by 12.5%. :) It was a great time and some new aqu…

Yesterday I was able to participate in two passions at once - not bad for an old guy like me!
As well as old aeroplanes I'm a fan of the Ford Capri and I've had my current one since 2001. The Capri itself celebrates its 40th birthday this year and there was a gathering to celebrate which was held at Brooklands so of course I had to attend. The weather was perfect and the event was very well attended and included a photoshhot on the famous banking for a selection of special cars.…

Sept. 12 & 13 was our Mid-Eastern Regional Fly-In or MERFI, up in Urbana Ohio. Sat was fogged in until 9:00 am and after that the very skies abounded with arrivals. The afor mentioned arrivals were marred by a wannabe air traffic controller that was 'approving' take-offs, landings, approaches and arrivals, at an uncontrolled field, all the while confusing and interrupting our unicom transmissions to each other in the air. Several close calls - 'clearing' to land 2 aircraft on RWY's 20 &…
